Course Offerings
Beginner Jazz Course (10 private lessons)
• Work with jazz standards (simple chord progressions), jazzy pop progressions, and audio-visual materials.
• Final goal: Perform two jazz standards (chosen in consultation) with a personally developed improvisation on melody and phrasing.
Advanced Jazz Course (10 private lessons)
Basic knowledge of music theory and notation required
• Topics covered:
• Vocal technique (same as beginner level)
• Expanding understanding of swing feel, bebop, and Latin styles (Brazilian, Afro-Cuban)
• Basic jazz theory and harmony (II-V-I progression)
• Melodic improvisation and scat singing
• Listening to and analyzing different jazz interpretations
• Work with jazz standards (Real Book) (more complex chord progressions), jazzy pop progressions, and audio-visual materials.
• Final goal: Perform three jazz standards (chosen in consultation) with piano, double bass, and drums, incorporating personalized phrasing, melody improvisation, or scat vocals.
Basic Vocal Course (10 lessons – Duo class)
• Focus on singing harmony (second voice) or backing vocals in jazz/pop repertoire.
• Final goal: Perform two to three songs in harmony for an audience.
Basic Course for Lead Vocalists (10 private lessons)
For lead singers in amateur or semi-professional pop/jazz bands

• Understanding song structure
• Time signature, tempo, and counting in
